Sambal Opa Co

My whole life, I’ve known nothing else than my dad preparing fresh batches of sambal every week. Based upon an old family recipe, Opa Co’s sambal conquered the hearts and fridges of our family members and friends. The main ingredients? Tradition, heritage and pure love.

Since we firmly believe that love can only grow when shared, we decided to take the production of our beloved sambal to a higher level. In 2020 my dad, Cos Bakker, and I launched 'Sambal Opa Co' as his grandkids like to call him. My dad is 68 and still supervises every batch to preserve the artisanal family recipe. He keeps an eye on the taste, quality and even adds the final touch (for you to find out) right before we close the lids.

I prefer eating our sambal as a dip with a tosti or smudging fish with it right before popping it in the oven. My dad’s favourite recipe is ‘Sambal Goreng Telor’, boiled eggs marinated in sambal for that ultimate Indonesian taste.
